Location: Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne

EVENT INFO

Sugar Mountain is annual single-day festival in Melbourne showcasing the best in contemporary music, visual art and new media, focusing on the natural meeting points between different mediums.

Above all, Sugar Mountain is a place for creativity to be absorbed and celebrated. The festival curators are determined to create an environment that is convivial and interactive, with performances and spaces that will remain with the audience long after the festival finale.

1 VENUE – 4 STAGES

Dodds Street Stage

The perfect setting for the main stage. The Dodds Street stage will host some of the world’s most phenomenal live artists in the largest outdoor space at Sugar Mountain. It will be adorned with bespoke structures engineered specifically for Sugar Mountain, featuring elements to showcase rhythm and movement which will see the environment continually evolving.

Car Park Stage

Customised décor will transform this outdoor car park into a sanctuary of amazing music, featuring some of the world’s best cutting-edge acts from a multitude of genres.

Boiler Room Stage

The world’s home of underground music and the only festival in Australia with a live Boiler Room stage. The Boiler Room stage, presented by Bacardi, will broadcast some of the world’s most acclaimed and Melbourne’s favourite DJs live to tens of thousands across the globe. In the beautiful outdoor setting of VCA’s courtyard, you must spend a couple of hours dancing here at SM 2016.

Warehouse Stage

This industrial shed becomes a blank canvas for artists to dress with innovative light installations and visual interactive performances.

Eat & Drink

They’re set to take festival dining to the next level in 2016 via a brand new addition to the Sugar Mountain culinary arsenal: Sensory.

Sensory is an immersive restaurant experiment that sees us teaming up with three of our favourite boundary-pushers – Bomba, Tin & Ed and Cut Copy.

Taking place during the festival – Saturday 23 January at Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) – Sensory will host four sittings of 90 people each, housed within a brand new indoor space at Sugar Mountain.

Sensory will explore the relationship between sight, sound, taste, smell and touch. Throughout the 50-minute, four-course set menu, guests will be treated to an interactive environment where all senses are stimulated.

Acclaimed tapas restaurant Bomba will be showing their artistry with a festive and new world food offering, paired with drinks. Melbourne design gurus Tin & Ed will work with function and form to create an immersive environment, while Cut Copy will curate an evolving soundtrack to complement each course.

The strictly-limited tickets to Sensory ($55 per person) can be purchased in addition to a Sugar Mountain 2016 ticket.
